Missy and the Maxinator Premiere Screening January 5 2009

By admin - Posted on 05 January 2009

Tonight we (Ben & Agnes) attended the Premiere Screening of "Missy and the Maxinator", mostly shot right here in the northwest suburbs of Chicago Illinois. Many scenes were filmed at the high schools and libraries in the area, with many local talents. After many years in the making, the movie is finally out! And I must add... well worth the wait DJ. Full of suspense, action, super heroes, adventure, drama, and yes, to complete any Hollywood film, love! Well done. If you get to watch and listen to the movie, Ben was the sound guy during the filming nearly 5 years ago. The movie itself was fabulous and after the show we greatly enjoyed spending some time with the cast and crew. So many interesting people lent a hand to bring the film to fruition. And from what we could see from the photos, everyone in attendance also enjoyed themselves. Can't wait for DJ's next movie!!!!
Plot outline -- "Max and Missy have been best friends for as long as they can remember, and now Max is falling in love with her. But strange things start happening to him at school. He can see through walls, hear distant voices, and he suddenly has super-human strength! When students start mysteriously disappearing after school Max and his friends stumble upon a sinister plot by his teachers to take over the world. And when they kidnap Missy, Max must put his new powers to the test to save the girl he loves."

And finally... the photoshopped version of the collage is now displayed below.

Portrait with Rich through a thousand unspoken words

By admin - Posted on 04 January 2009

Rich... what can we say about Rich? The question is what can't we say about Rich? Or was it what shouldn't we say about Rich? A recently retired bachelor (yes ladies, he's single) Rich needed a new profile photo for his company's web site.

After we did the basic "corporate headshot" we got to play around with some experimental lighting techniques. Using both wide lighting and some fixed lightl, I got some interested photos. I was interested in the "Time" magazine look, as seen on Gregory Heisler (www.gregoryheisler.com). Since every model is different, every photo had it's own life. Below is one of my favorites from today.

Flower and wedding ring

By admin - Posted on 02 January 2009

Editing a few images from the wedding two weeks ago, and found I was deeply intrigued by the rings inside flowers photo. Though rather a standard photo from today's modern weddings, I find this image to be inspirational. It suggests life and love and the contiued glow of togetherness.

After my emotional moment passed, I thought about how it would be fun to play around with Photoshop with the sharpening of images. Image 1 is the original photo, unedited while Image 2 is the super sharpened version. Enjoy.

The Artist’s Way

By admin - Posted on 02 January 2009

An artist must have downtime, time to do nothing. Defending our right to such time takes courage, conviction, and resiliency. Such time, space, and quiet will strike our family and friends as withdrawal from them. It is.

For an artist, withdrawal is necessary. Without it, the artist in us feels vexed, angry, out of sort. If such deprivation continues, our artist becomes sullen, depressed, hostile. We eventually became like cornered animals, snarling at our family and friends to leave us alone and stop making unreasonable demands.

We are the ones making unreasonable demands. We expect our artist to be able to function without giving it what it needs to do so. An artist requires the upkeep of solitude. An artist requires the healing of time alone.

Wedding Missy and John December 27 2008

By admin - Posted on 28 December 2008

Today our Plum Tree Studio crew photographed the wedding of Missy and John! Initially there was concern that a winter wedding had potential to be impacted by the snow or freezing weather. Yet, our bride and groom wanted a Christmas wedding and that is what they received. In fact, at our wedding consultation this summer the bride adamantly said to me "It will not snow on my wedding day!" I have to say that Missy must have been in communication with the weather gods because it did not snow on her wedding day. In fact, December 27th 2008 was the warmest weather recorded for that day in history, setting a new record for Chicago! The day reminded me very much of the early spring weddings with rain showered intermixed with spell of warm wind. No gloves, no hates, no scarves, just a casual breeze and a sprinkling of moisture. That proved that positive thinking and a great deal of luck can make any dream come true!

Below are a few images from John and Missy’s special day. More images will be posted under recent events just in just a few weeks, so please check back again.

CONGRATULATIONS MISSY AND JOHN!!!

Lead Photographer Personal

By admin - Posted on 27 December 2008

Many of our clients ask us about the photographers at the studio. Who are we? What are we like? Get to know us by spending some time on the website and reviewing our galleries.

New: At each wedding, events and portrait session we try to capture photographs of our “imagery athletes” (also known as photographers) in action. Whether it be running through the rain to get a photo of the brides coming out of the limousine, spending a 10 hour day in the blazing 100 degree sun, meowing at the puppies to get that cute head turn, or jiggling sparkly things to get baby to smile… we are ready for it and will show you ourselves in the gallery below. Updated quarterly, the images will reflect us and our passion in photography!

IMAGE 1: The following images were taken at the Dodd Wedding in December 2008. Photographers on staff were Agnes (Lead Photographer and Portrait Artist) and Ben (Photojournalist).

Engagement Photo Adrienne and Lamar

By admin - Posted on 23 December 2008

Today we had Adrienne and Lamar at the Studio for their engagement photos. This morning was also a horrible winter blizzard. Temperatures plummeted. We got about 4 inches of snow. The plows were out in force all day from morning until night. And yet, these two lovely souls still made it in through the storm for their scheduled appointment. They receive the trooper of the day award! I could think of no better way to spend the evening snow storm then by taking pictures of two people in love!

The couple took advantage of our portrait discount and received 50% off of their engagement portrait, by booking their wedding photography with Plum Tree Studio. Contact us today if you are interested in the 2008 discount!!!

Congratulations Adrienne and Lamar!

See you in April 2009 for your wedding day!

Family Portrait James Kathryn Kelly Jim

By admin - Posted on 20 December 2008

This morning we had at our studio a former client of mine, which I have kept in contact with over the years. We photographed using the Canon 5D and the 20mm-70mm L-series pro lens. Light were set at only 1/4 power and background was standard white backdrop paper. Kelly's two little angels (twins) had just as much energy as their momma, coupled with dads enthusiasm and made for a fun adventure! Born in the winter of 2007, these little ones were a mere one year old yet had brought tons of energy and joy to the photo shoot! The Photo collage from the morning studio session is below, and more images coming within a few weeks. Both James and Kathryn crawled around and explored the studio, always inquisitive and ready for new sites. In between cries, snacks, and snuggles we managed to get a whole bunch of fabulous photos. If I did not know better, I would have guessed these two little ones had taken modeling classes.

Photos with Santa Paws at Who's Your Puppy in Libertyville

By admin - Posted on 09 December 2008

This weekend Plum Tree Studio Pet Photography was out with tails a-waggin' in Libertyville, Illinois photographying the annual event called "Photo Op with Santa Paws". Santa Paws was at the "Who's Your Puppy" Salon and Spa on Saturday (December 6th) and Sunday (December 7th). The salon offers pet stylists, relaxation at the spa, accesories, toys, collars, and above all else a knowledgable and friendly staff. I was amazed and pleased to see that every guest was personally greeted and given a tour of the facility. Talk about personalized service! Take a look at their web site and stop over -- and make sure you tell them Agnes from Plum Tree Studio sent you (they'll treat you extra special!).

And if you were among the lucky humans and canines who stopped in for a visit, your photos are available online for purchase and your free 5x7 photograph will be available for pick up on December 20th 2008.

Pet Potraits Bucky

By admin - Posted on 07 December 2008

This evening we had a Pet Portrait with Calvin, Janet and "Bucky" from Grayslake. Our gorgeous red headed friend (below) was 70 pounds of pure muscle and a ton of love and energy. He bounded around the studio, exploring everything he could. Sniff sniff, what's that? And that? And ohh ohh that too? What is it?!?!? His young nose was not yet used to the "other dog" smells in this world, and as we all know Plum Tree Studio is frequently visited by four legged buddies ready to smile for their annual portraits.

As soon as his care givers sat down for their portraits, he promptly joined them on the floor (obviously ready for his evening tummy rub). To get his attention I did my usual "critter sounds" as I like to call them -- a few cat meows, some like arfs, then a bit of the quack quack, and finally closing with a general squeel. Buckey responded really well to the "go to the car?" sentence (since we all love car rides, photographer included!). After a few photos, Bucky realized that no real critters were actually in my throat and thus was bored of me. Overall, it was a great session for Bucky and his adopted parents! Woof Woof Buckey!

Portrait Kristen Polizzi

By admin - Posted on 27 November 2008

Last weekend I photographed with Kristen Poilzzi and true to her own description, she was a bubbly, sincere and kind person, very open to new idea's and new poses. Kristen was very comfortable with her 5'10" physique and "worked it" in the photos, as we say in the biz. You can tell from the images below that she could replicate emotions as needed and gave a great deal of variety in poses and motions. Fab! Thanks girl!

She loves me then she loves me not

By admin - Posted on 26 November 2008

She loves me, she loves me not... sometimes I just don't know who to trust. And sometimes I can't remember how I got here. But those eyes. Those beautiful blue eyes. I was pulled in. Into the fire. Into the flame. I walked in like a fool and I heard the voices. I didn't turn back. Who would have turned back when the blue flames roared higher into the night. They called to me and pleased for my entry. I gave in. I stepped into the flame. And yet... she loves me... she loves me not...

Maternity Portraits for Beth and Al

By admin - Posted on 24 November 2008

This evening I had Beth and Alberto over at the studio for a maternity session. Beth is now 6 months pregnant with twin girls! She was simply glowing with maternal happiness.  Together, they were a very comfortable and stress free couple, which made my job way more fun. They comfortable with their poses and comfortable with me.  When I said close your eyes and relax, their bodies relaxed and made for an awesome photo. In between somber and relaxed moment I even got them to laugh out loud (LOL), which made for an even more honest and natural photo. Looking forward to having them back in the studio for “after” photos with their two new angels.

Baby Matthew

By admin - Posted on 23 November 2008

Happy 1 year birthday Matthew! This morning I went to the home of Erin, Chuck, & baby Matthew. Already mr matthew was engrossed in books and "reading". At only one year of age, he was very perceptive to everything around him and his eyes displayed wonder and curiosity. With a little help from Elmo and his singing mommy, we got this handsome young man to strike his cute whimsical smile. Roxie

By admin - Posted on 20 November 2008

Meet Roxie! She is a 1.5 year old boxer lab mix with a wonderfully inquisitive nature. From the moment she stepped into the studio she was off with nose to sniff every corner and every scent. A little skiddish at first, normal for a pound puppy, she quickly warmed up to a friendly face. We played for a bit on the floor until she got comfortable with me and my camera. The lights didn't bother her at all, as long as there were treats nearby. Nom nom nom she said as she nibbled on a scooby snack. Her human mommy picked her from the dog shelter and you could feel the love Roxie gave back! For a puppy, she was amazingly well behaved. Nothing was broken, knocked over, yellowed or torn. She listened when she got a command, even if a little delayed. Her heart was warm and loving and she was a wonderful little girl to have in the studio. Look forward to having the family back in soon for a family portrait.

The Long Voyage

By admin - Posted on 14 November 2008

Anyone can appreciate the sentiment in this photo, which is appropriately titled "Long Voyage". The image represents childhood moving into womanhood; crossing the path from one world and into another. The experience of youth and innocence is short lived and blurred, and the wedding day is a small depiction of the speed of life and memories. Blink once and you may miss both, blink twice and you've seen nothing.

At Plum Tree Studio Wedding Photography, you are our inspiration. It is photos and opportunities such as these which continue to light out lives as much as our equipment. Working with each client inspires our photographers to try different angles, different poses, different lighting, and a different perspective.

Each wedding as unique as thumbprint. The DNA of every wedding is the same – the white dress, the tuxes, the flowers, the dj’s, the flower girl and ring bearer, and the wedding cake. But each couple brings to the ceremony their own proclamation of love and devotion. Each reception party bring to it a unique sense of life and energy. Every “first dance” is the beginning of a new life. This is what inspires us as wedding photographers.

You inspire us!

Congratulations to Laura and Peter Jedrzejewski!

Engagement Portrait Erin and Brian

By admin - Posted on 19 October 2008

This morning we met with newly engaged couple, Erin and Brian, at Butler Park in Libertyville, Illinois. As this is the fall season, we were blessed with every color imaginable. There were trees turning yellow, orange, red, and green still basking in the afternoon sun. We did get some perfect weather today, especially for a Midwest fall!

Though no clouds were in site, and the sun warmed us as we walked, we found some beautiful subtle shade were we got in a few posed photos. A few photos by the benches and a quit stop along the bridge. Smile here, look there, nuzzle, more nuzzle, click click. Phew, we’re done here. Luckily we didn’t get caught by any bridge trolls. Though I have heard they do not visit Libertyville any longer.

Towards the end of our session, Brian led us to a section filled with lovely willow trees. (Internal music monologue played in my head as we walked to the willows…. “Is this the way to Amarillo… I’ll be weeping like a willow… sha lala lala lala doodoo”). Hidden under mother natures secret cave of green breathe, Erin and Brian stopped for a tender moment exchanging kisses. And lastly we concluded our circular walk through the park with a few moments along the large white bridge. I must say, we got lucky today Erin and Brain! It was a warm day, filled with gentle wind, and plenty of love.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!!!!
