Engagement Portrait Session In Libertyville

By admin - Posted on 26 May 2009

This afternoon was a marvelous day for an engagement portrait session through Independence Grove in Libertyville Illinois. The clouds gentle rolled across the sky and a gentle breeze came across the rolling fields. Every different season allows for different types of seasonal poses and use of the foliage.

I meet with Jennifer and Mark for their engagement portraits. We walked around the loop in the grove for the standard poses. It amazes me every time I meet with a couple about how different each session is. With the variety in the time of day, the wind, the sun, and the relationship itself, every engagement session is totally different.

Mark and Jennifer were both eager and happy to try the different locations and poses. Whether it meant hoping up on the bridge, walking through into the woods (and fighting the prickly pears), or snuggling up next to the cattails, both of these lovely people were quite adaptive to each scene. And Jennifer… I do think GQ and Modern Bride Magazine might actually be calling you for the jpg from today’s portrait session! Just send them my way and I’ll handle the rest! LOL! Congratulations to Jennifer and Mark on your engagement!

Engagement Portraits at independence grove Libertyville Illinois

By admin - Posted on 13 May 2009

Today I created the engagement portrait photography session at the independence grove in Libertyville Illinois. We met up with Michelle, Dan and Tinkerbell (that is the super cute puppy in the photographs) for a beautiful spring stroll through the amazingly well kept garden and pond area. We stopped along the way of our walk around, for photos at the cattails, along the edge of the pond on the rocks, and through the arms of the trees. It was an amazing and peaceful day, with a gentle wind.

Professional Engagement Portraits Volo Illinois

By admin - Posted on 16 April 2009

On this gorgeous Friday afternoon, I met up with Becky & Jeff for their professional engagement portraits at the Volo Bog in Volo Illinois. The couples wedding is in October 2009 and they have chosen Plum Tree Studio Wedding Photography!

Friday was a magnificent day, with sunshine and a light breeze. It was the kind of day that we the people of Chicago hope for. It is days like these day that we justify why we live in the tundra of the Midwest for 6 months out of the year. Luckily these two lovely people chose today to have their engagement photos.

The sun up above gave them a gentle glow, and provided depth to every photo. We walked through the short trail of the Volo Bog, with me only doing a few “stop, hold, kiss, pose” moments. The rest were all natural loving moments. Every hug and kiss was true. They both found ways to giggle to each other, without me having to make barking noises (anyone who has ever been into the studio for a children’s portrait or pet photo will understand what I mean).

Towards the end of our journey together, I looked over and saw Jeff giving Becky a huge bear hug. I shouted to him “stop right there and don’t move, do it again!” Click, click, click of the shutter. Got it! It is the cute brown photo below. Sometimes as much as we photographers try to get the best amazingly posed photos, it often happens naturally, just like love. This was just one such moment.

We wrapped up our session with a bit of fun and frolic. And these two happy souls did not have a qualm about my suggestions. I had them “jumping for joy” and “running and jumping” and also “sitting on bench tickling”. It was a super fun session and the wedding will be just as fun for everyone!

Their wedding is going to be at the same location where Groundhog Day circa 1993 (starring Bill Murray) was filmed in Woodstock, Illinois. Time to pull log into the Netflix account and watch the movie over again, you know, to get some inspiration and ideas for possible wedding scenes. Later we will head to Wild West Town and possibly the local pubs for some live action wedding day fun. This is one photographer who thinks it will simply be a blast! Good thing there will be two photographers that day, so much going on!

Studio Engagement Photo Adrienne and Lamar

By admin - Posted on 23 December 2008

Today we had Adrienne and Lamar at the portrait studio for their formal engagement photos. This morning was also a horrible winter blizzard. Temperatures plummeted. We got about 4 inches of snow. The plows were out in force all day from morning until night. And yet, these two lovely souls still made it in through the storm for their scheduled appointment. They receive the trooper of the day award! I could think of no better way to spend the evening snow storm then by taking pictures of two people in love!

The couple took advantage of our portrait discount and received 50% off of their engagement portrait, by booking their wedding photography with Plum Tree Studio. Contact us today if you are interested in the 2008 discount!!! Their wedding will be in Wadsworth Illinois in April of 2009. Looking forward to a wonderful celebration of love.

Congratulations Adrienne and Lamar!

See you in April 2009 for your wedding day!

Engagement Portrait Erin and Brian

By admin - Posted on 19 October 2008

This morning we met with newly engaged couple, Erin and Brian, at Butler Park in Libertyville, Illinois. As this is the fall season, we were blessed with every color imaginable. There were trees turning yellow, orange, red, and green still basking in the afternoon sun. We did get some perfect weather today, especially for a Midwest fall!

Though no clouds were in site, and the sun warmed us as we walked, we found some beautiful subtle shade were we got in a few posed photos. A few photos by the benches and a quit stop along the bridge. Smile here, look there, nuzzle, more nuzzle, click click. Phew, we’re done here. Luckily we didn’t get caught by any bridge trolls. Though I have heard they do not visit Libertyville any longer.

Towards the end of our session, Brian led us to a section filled with lovely willow trees. (Internal music monologue played in my head as we walked to the willows…. “Is this the way to Amarillo… I’ll be weeping like a willow… sha lala lala lala doodoo”). Hidden under mother natures secret cave of green breathe, Erin and Brian stopped for a tender moment exchanging kisses. And lastly we concluded our circular walk through the park with a few moments along the large white bridge. I must say, we got lucky today Erin and Brain! It was a warm day, filled with gentle wind, and plenty of love.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!!!!

Portrait Bruce Corinne Ayden Decklan

By admin - Posted on 25 August 2008

We met with Bruce and Corinne this evening at the Petrified Springs Forest Preserve in Kenosha Wisconsin. This is a favorite Wisconsin photography area of ours due to the vast amount of different settings and backdrops available. The wooded area offers beautiful stone bridges, lush trees, a hunter’s cottage, the heart shaped tree, and acres upon acres of natural area, perfect for both sunny and cloudy days.

Last time we were here, we were commissioned to Petrified Springs in Kenosha in January of 2008, by Hannah and Brett for their portraits. By the way, Hannah and Brett are not engaged and have asked us to be their photography for the 2009 wedding. Wonderful news! Congrats! In the winter of 2008 there was a crisp cold in the air, poor Brett had pink ears. This summer of 2008 was filled with a gentle breeze and a lovely setting sun. No mosquitoes in site, no stifling Midwest summer heat, just a gentle wind and the sound of the evening bird.

This was our first time meeting Corinne’s boys – Ayden and Decklan. What cute young gentlemen they were! Everyone showed up wearing a handsome white shirt and blue jeans. Very summery and light, and so representative of the natural flow and happiness of this young family. When asked their names Ayden proudly explained to me “I am Ayden and this is Decklan”. Again he repeated, this time pointing, “Ayden, Decklan”. I couldn’t help by smile. Such a bright young lad and already a good teacher.

During our walk into our designated area, Corinne announced her engagement to Bruce. How wonderful! It is always wonderful to hear such good news before a portrait session. Congratulations to Corinne and Bruce!

To begin the session, I wanted get the boys comfortable with me; I’m the lady with the giant lens pointed at them so I want to make sure they are relaxed. We started out with a simple pose on the heart shaped tree along the path. Ayden was happy to strike a pose and could have modeled all day. Decklan on the other hand was not so sure about me yet.

After few minutes at the tree portrait, we decided to move to a greener pasture just a bit down the road. I capture a few images of the family walking together. Such a cute photo of four pairs of hands all intertwined and supporting each other. We arrived into a nicely shaded area and began the second part of our session - usually the first part is a warm up for kids to get to know and trust me and the second is when the real action happens.

I posed the family in a contemporary side sit with Ayden in the front of the pack and Decklan leaning on mom. The younger was not too eager to move away from mom, so kept him in his comfort zone. The boys each got a chance to be silly and fiddle around with crooked smiles before the tickle monster came out to ensure happy and sincere smiles by all. Sometimes stinky feet and tickle monster help us get the portraits smiles we need!

Next I captured the engagement photos for Bruce and Corinne. Their couple only portrait was sincere and loving. A few minutes into the session I noticed two pairs of eyes peeping at me from under the portrait chair. Looks like Decklan and Ayden were not finished with their pictures yet. No worries. I captured the engagement picture of the happy young couple and using my 70-200mm Canon lens zoomed in the boys too when their didn’t think I was looking.

Finally, I asked Bruce to get the car (as I wasn’t sure the boys would be in a mood to walk a quarter mile back to the parking lot) and asked mom “not to pay attention” to us. Corinne pretended to not pay attention and I asked they boys if they wanted their own pictures --- I received a resounding “yeah”. The next 20 minutes were filled with big smiles, fun giggles, boyish wrestling, pretending to sleep, brotherly leans, spinning and more spinning, and grass crawling. It always amazed me how kids open up when they “think” that mom isn’t looking. These two boys were an absolute treat to work with – full of energy, joy, and excitement. They loved showing me their big boy poses and happy smiles. It is always nice to end my evening and end my weekend with sharing a happy moment with such joyful children.

Thank you to Bruce, Corinne, and of course my buddies Ayden and Decklan! This family has many years filed with joy, laughter, and fun! Thank you for trusting Plum Tree Studio for your family portrait photography needs. We look forward to seeing you again in 2009 for your family session!
